Description
Delicious apple-filled puff pastry rolls that are perfect for a sweet treat!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 2 apples, peeled, cored, and finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 egg yolk (for brushing)
- 1 tablespoon milk (for brushing)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Let the puff pastry sit at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes or until it’s pliable.
- In a small skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the finely chopped apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cook for 5–7 minutes until the apples are tender and coated in a syrupy mixture. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Unroll your puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Spread the apple filling evenly across the surface, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges. Starting from one long side, gently roll the pastry into a log, sealing the edge with a little water.
- Slice the roll into 8 even pieces and place them flat-side down on the prepared baking sheet. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and milk. Brush the tops of each roll with the egg wash to give them a golden finish.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the rolls are puffed and golden brown. Let them cool for a few minutes before serving — though they’re especially delicious warm.
Notes
- These rolls are best enjoyed warm out of the oven.
- Feel free to sprinkle some powdered sugar on top for extra sweetness!
