Description
Bright and fun colorful popcorn, perfect for any celebration or movie night!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
- 3 tablespoons butter or coconut oil (Use coconut oil as a substitute if preferred.)
- various Food coloring (Choose colors as desired.)
- to taste 1 teaspoon salt
- Nuts or dried fruits (optional)
- Sprinkles (your choice)
- Chocolate drizzle (melted chocolate or chocolate sauce)
Instructions
- Start by popping the popcorn kernels. If using a stovetop method, heat your butter or coconut oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the popcorn kernels and cover. Shake the pot occasionally until popping sounds start to slow down (about 2-3 seconds between pops). If you’re using an air popper, simply follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
- While the popcorn pops, divide it into separate bowls depending on how many colors you’re planning to create. In small cups, mix a few drops of food coloring with a tablespoon of melted butter or coconut oil until you achieve your desired shades.
- Once you’ve popped all the popcorn, drizzle the colored butter or oil over each bowl of popcorn, mixing gently until evenly coated.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all the colored popcorn together. Add the salt now for an extra kick of flavor.
- Drizzle your melted chocolate over the popcorn and sprinkle with various toppings such as sprinkles, nuts, or dried fruits. Toss gently to combine everything evenly.
- Transfer the loaded popcorn onto a large platter or individual bowls. Enjoy it fresh and crispy!
