Description

Delicious creamy mashed potatoes made with russet or Yukon Gold potatoes, butter, milk, and sour cream.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds russet or Yukon Gold potatoes
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Peel and quarter the potatoes for even cooking.
  2. Boil the potato chunks in a large pot of salted cold water for 15-20 minutes until fork-tender.
  3. Drain the potatoes and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Serve warm with an optional pat of butter on top.

Notes

  • For creamier potatoes, use a potato ricer.
  • Warm the milk and sour cream before adding to prevent cooling the potatoes.
